Illustrated Idioms and their origins

What is an Idiom?
An idiom is a special phrase where the words together mean something different than what each word means on its own—like a secret code! They are not meant to be taken literally. For example, “It’s raining cats and dogs” doesn’t mean actual cats and dogs are falling from the sky; it just means it’s raining really hard!
I am inviting parents of young children to engage in a playful exploration of everyday idioms you may have used yourself and teach your children that laughter and learning go hand in hand
in my illustrations.
In addition to these idioms I have tried to explain their Etymology (the study of the origins of these words). I hope you find their definitions interesting.
