For the first twenty-five years of his career, Jathan Janove, a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, practiced employment law, initially representing employees and unions and later switching to the management side. He was licensed in six states. In 2005, the Utah State Bar named him “Employment Lawyer of the Year,” and in 2006, the J. Reuben Clark Law Society—Salt Lake Chapter named him “Citizen Lawyer of the Year.”

Since leaving the practice of law, Jathan has served as an organization development consultant and executive coach with a focus on workplace culture and human capital development. He is a Master Coach for the international Marshall Goldsmith Stakeholder Centered Coaching organization and writes its “Ask the Coach” column (https://knowledgebank.mgscc.ne...). He is a longtime speaker and writer for SHRM and writes the column “Putting Humanity into HR Compliance.” He served three years as president of the Organization Development Network—Oregon.
