Creating content for your blog, newsletter, multiple social media channels, clients, and more can be challenging, but just when you think there’s nothing left to say, there’s always more to be said.

  • Create a Content Calendar – It’s much easier to brainstorm and stay consistent when you create a content calendar, and it’s easier than you think to turn your book into a year’s worth of content. Make it part of your New Year planning to review your book for additional or overlooked content directions.
  • Newsjacking – Relate current news headlines to what you do and offer your perspective.
  • Create a Series – Take a key concept and break it down into 101, 201, and 301 level content.
  • Recycling – Tap into your blog and social media archives and reshare older content. As your following grows, this content will be fresh information for more recent followers.
  • Curate – Share what other experts in your space are doing, writing, creating, etc.
  • Try Something New – Social networks are always evolving. Haven’t tried sharing an Instagram Story or Tik-Tok? Thinking about starting your own podcast? Give it a try, and see how your followers respond!
  • Humblebrag – Share interviews you’ve given, articles you’ve written, and endorsements, and reader feedback you’ve received, tagging the outlet or individual whenever possible for a potential reshare.
  • Crowdsource – Ask your community what they would be interested in seeing you produce. Answer questions, run with ideas (or don't run with ideas, whatever the case may be), and be open to input from readers.
  • Check the Stats – Do certain blog posts get more comments than others? Does site traffic increase whenever you tackle a certain topic? Do tweets on a specific idea get reshared consistently? If so, your community likes that content, and therefore that topic is a great source of derivative content. Go deeper, follow a tangent, or even go back and explain the basics.
  • Check the Comments – Does your community ask the same questions time and time again? Create a relevant blog post, and share a link to the archived article on social media whenever appropriate.
  • Hire Someone – You don’t, can’t, and sometimes shouldn’t have to always do it yourself. Writers and social media managers can offer fresh eyes, content ideas, and even fully developed content for sharing.
